PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Goodwill is continuing to help unhoused and veterans in-need.
For the 17th year, Goodwill of Central Illinois hosted its annual Stand Down for Veterans on Saturday at Goodwill Commons on War Memorial Drive in Peoria. The event is meant to help veterans get all the belongings they need for winter.
They can get brand-new winter coats and other household items, and they also make contact with organizations that can help them with medical care and other needs.
“A lot of our veterans have made sacrifices for us, and for our freedoms. They have been in many conflicts, services for us along with their family members. This is Goodwill’s way of saying ‘Thank you,’” said Johanna Wagner, assistant director for Goodwill of Central Illinois.
The event also had workshops
