US President Donald Trump says he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest, Hungary, to discuss ending the war in Ukraine after a productive conversation.
Mr Trump said in a social media post that “great progress was made with today’s telephone conversation”.
Speaking at a press conference at the White House, Mr Trump believes the meeting will happen ‘within two weeks, pretty quick’.
“Last week 7000 people were killed, that’s ridiculous.”
He said he hopes he can stop the Ukraine conflict: “We hope we’re going to get it stopped. Because of my relationship with Putin I though this would be very quick.”
