I decided to give a trick endorsed by money-saving expert Martin Lewis a go in an attempt to stay warm. He's been singing the praises of USB hand warmers, even featuring the handy gadget on his own website.

He revealed that it costs less than 1p per hour to run, and is currently available from Boots for just £12.50 - so what's not to like?
