The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be getting one step closer to a fully healthy wide receiver room after all.
Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who sustained a hamstring injury in Week 6, will play in Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported.
Egbuka will start alongside veteran receiver Mike Evans, who was recovering from a hamstring injury of his own, and is "likely to play" on Monday night, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter wrote Sunday morning that Egbuka was still officially a game-time decision for the Buccaneers. However, the rookie was back at practice on Saturday, and multiple reports Monday afternoon confirmed that Egbuka is good to go for Monday's game.
Emeka Egbuka injury update
Even though Egbuka suffered a hamstring injury during the Buccaneers' Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers, the rookie wide receiver is "good to go" for Monday night, according to Fowler.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport also reported that Egbuka went through a pregame workout on Monday, and the Buccaneers determined that their first-round pick in this year's draft was healthy enough to play.
Egbuka was initially diagnosed with a "low-grade hamstring strain" after last week's game, per Schefter, but the injury was minor enough that he will not miss any time.
The Ohio State product was back as a limited participant in practice as soon as Saturday, six days after initially sustaining the injury. Now, he'll be back in action before missing any game time.
Emeka Egbuka stats
The Buccaneers' first-round pick was having a breakout rookie season prior to his injury. He had two 100-yard games in a row before sustaining his hamstring injury in Week 6.
- Targets: 42
- Receptions: 27
- Yards: 469
- Touchdowns: 5
Egbuka's 469 receiving yards and five touchdown catches are the most of any rookie pass-catcher this season. His 27 catches rank fifth, though the four players ahead of him have played one more game.
