ALBANY - Pope Leo XIV has appointed a Boston-based auxiliary bishop to be the new bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, the diocese announced.

Bishop Mark O'Connell is to become the 11th bishop for Albany, succeeding Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger, the diocese announced.
