Jesus Montero, who was once a promising Yankees prospect, died at 35 after a motorcycle accident earlier this month.
A report from El Extrabase indicates that Montero was part of a serious traffic accident on October 5 and passed following several days in the hospital.
Montero’s motorcycle hit a pickup truck in Valencia, in his native Venezuela, and he reportedly suffered severe injuries to the point where he had to be put in an induced coma at Valencia City Hospital. Unfortunately, he would eventually die from those injuries.
The Yankees announced his death on Sunday.
“The Yankees are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jesus Montero,” the team said in a statement. “We send our sincerest condolences to his family & loved ones.”
He suffered six broken ribs, fractures to his fem
