A West Lothian man who fought his way back from drink and drug problems has been recognised for his outstanding voluntary contribution to football in the community.
John McKnight founder of Fauldhouse United Sundays has been honoured with two prestigious Scottish FA Grassroots Awards — the National Award for Volunteer of the Year in Adult Football, as well as the East Region Volunteer of the Year in Adult Football.
John, a 36-year-old former pro-youth player who lost his way in life due to alcohol and drug issues, launched Fauldhouse United Sundays back in February of this year.
His plan was to offer adults in recovery, those rebuilding their lives after addiction or trauma, and people seeking a second chance, a place to belong at the newly formed football club.
