Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin died while in police custody on Saturday morning after the all-pro allegedly was involved in a home break-in.

The East Bay Times reported that Martin had a “medical emergency” and then a “brief struggle” ensued.

The former Pro Bowler allegedly resisted arrest when police attempted to detain him and then became unresponsive before being transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Oakland Police have not specified why Martin was being detained or what the “medical emergency” was.

Martin, who played seven years in the NFL with the Bucs and Oakland Raiders, was 36 years old.

“It is with great sadness to inform you all that Doug Martin passed away Saturday morning,” Martins’ family said in a statement.
