TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Airports mishandle millions of bags each year, but a study by California-based packing company Arka said Miami International Airport is the "worst hub for handling luggage."

According to Arka's survey, MIA loses roughly 306 bags for every million flights and 5.5 bags per 1,000 passengers. Travel + Leisure said that around 1,000 flights travel through MIA each day, causing chaos for airport handlers and for the passengers with lost luggage.

Arka said its decision was based on a two-factor analysis: passenger volume and online searches for lost and found services.

Arka adjusted the data to reflect searches per million passengers to make airport comparisons fair in determining lost luggage reports.
