The Red Cross is traveling to a meeting point in Gaza to receive a coffin carrying the remains of a deceased hostage, the Israeli military said Monday.
“The Red Cross is on its way to the meeting point in the southern Gaza Strip, where a coffin of a deceased hostage will be transferred into its custody,” according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Security Agency (ISA).
The individual has yet to be named or formally identified. The IDF in its statement asked the public to act with “sensitivity and wait for the official identification, which will first be provided to the families.”
“Hamas is required to uphold the agreement and take the necessary steps to return all the deceased hostages,” the statement added.
