Mumbai Oct 20 (UNI) Legendary comedian Govardhan Asrani, popularly known as Asrani, passed away in Mumbai today after a prolonged illness.

Asrani, 84, is survived by his wife, actress Manju Asrani, his sister, and a nephew.

His last rites were performed at Santacruz cemetery which was attended by family members friend and relatives.

The iconic star, whose career spanned more than five decades and over 350 films, passed away at 3 PM at Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, following complications from a prolonged illness that led to fluid accumulation in his lungs.

Born on January 1, 1941, in Jaipur and an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune, Asrani carved out an enduring legacy through his impeccable timing and endearing portrayals.
