New Orleans Mayor-elect Helena Moreno kicked off her search Monday for new city attorney, a position appointed by the mayor that could have a new job description if voters approve a charter amendment on November's ballot.

Leading Moreno's search for the city's next chief legal officer are former city attorney Sharonda Williams and trial lawyer Jennifer Greene, according to a press release from Moreno's transition.

"The City Attorney is one of the most consequential positions in city government. This leader must combine impeccable legal skill with integrity, fairness and public trust,” Moreno said in the release.
