NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A variety of factors lead to someone feeling safe in their city. Threat of crime, to threat of natural disasters, safety on the roads and financial safety all play a role. Considering these factors and more, WalletHub released its recent study on the safest cities in America. WalletHub compared 182 cities across 41 key metrics including assaults per capita, natural disaster risk, financial safety rank, law enforcement employees per capita and more.

New Mexico had two cities rank on the list with Albuquerque ranking 154 overall and Las Cruces ranking 111 overall. In individual metrics Albuquerque ranked 162 in home and community safety, 110 in natural disaster risk and 67 in financial safety. Las Cruces ranked 116, 60, 89 in the same categories.
