The Saanich Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its most decorated service dogs.
Retired Police Service Dog Grimm passed away peacefully on Oct. 13 at the age of 13, the department announced on Oct. 17.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of retired Police Service Dog Grimm. Grimm was a proud and valued member of the Saanich Police Canine Program,” the department shared on X.
Grimm served alongside his handler, Cst. Matt Morin, for several years, forming what police described as an “unbreakable bond.”
Together, they were responsible for more than 100 successful tracks and arrests, including several high-profile cases.
