Government services for St. George residents were supposed to completely transition from East Baton Rouge Parish to the newly incorporated city last week, but that deadline has now been extended a little further.
St. George was set to take over public works, infrastructure maintenance and 311 from the city-parish on Oct. 15 but will now cover those services for its residents starting on Nov. 1.
St. George officials did not answer questions about why the deadline was extended and instead released a statement from Mayor Dustin Yates touting a smooth transition and working relationship with the administration in Baton Rouge.
