Palo Alto leaders on Monday will take on the issue of unhoused people living in RVs on city streets.

According to the 2025 Point-in-Time Count, 418 people in Palo Alto said they were unhoused, double the number of people who were unhoused during the last count in 2023. Roughly 73% live in their cars or in an RV, about double the rate of the rest of Santa Clara County.

Resident complaints about the number of RVs in the city are going up as well. The RV dwellers say they need somewhere to go, but residents in the area say RV dwelling isn’t safe or healthy for anyone long-term.
