RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) — A Richmond man is facing multiple charges after police say he caused a high-speed crash that injured several people.

According to court documents, 36-year-old Cory Cooper was driving south on Robert R. Martin Bypass on October 4 when he ran a red light and struck a minivan at the Merrick Drive intersection.

The impact sent the van into a spin, ejecting one passenger who was thrown across the median. Six people were hospitalized, including Cooper, who was also ejected from his vehicle.

Court documents say security camera footage shows Cooper’s vehicle speeding at approximately 90 miles per hour and weaving between lanes before the crash.
