GARNER, Iowa – Two people are now scheduled to stand trial for copper thefts in Hancock County.

Bret Michael Freiberg, 46 of Charles City, is charged with first-degree theft, first-degree criminal mischief, ongoing criminal conduct, and three counts of third-degree burglary. Madison Marie Clay, 28 of Cedar Falls, is accused of first-degree theft, ongoing criminal conduct, first-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree burglary.

Law enforcement says Freiberg and Clay went to Sparboe Summit Farm near Goodell multiple times between January and April, stole over $10,000 in copper wire and other goods, and caused over $10,000 worth of damage.

Freiberg and Clay have both pleaded not guilty. Their trial is set to start on December 10.
