The bassist of a well-known alternative rock group released new music for the first time in quite some time.
However, one song has been scrubbed from streaming platforms over allegations of plagiarism .
Pitchfork reports that it was back in August when Paz Lenchantin — the former bassist of Boston, Massachusetts-based Pixies — announced she planned to release a brand new album entitled “Triste,” which came out on Oct. 17. The last time Lenchantin released a solo album was “Songs for Luci” in 2006.
However, Mxdwn.com reports that the album’s lead single, “Hang Tough,” began to draw criticism from listeners on social media: According to them, the song strongly resembled Chico Buarque and Gilberto Gil’s 1973 protest song, “Cálice.”
