LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Little Rock Compassion Center is seeking the public’s help to supply nutritious Thanksgiving meals for the poorest among us.

The center needs nine tons of food, including more than 350 turkeys, fresh produce, and especially potatoes, said Pastor William Holloway, Executive Director.

“We have less than a month to prepare,” Holloway said. “Hundreds of the poor and homeless in Little Rock will be coming for a meal and we need to be ready.”

The Compassion Center, which operates the city’s only overnight shelter, expects record crowds of 700 to 800 per seating during Thanksgiving week, Holloway said.

The center plans to serve special holiday meals every day from Thanksgiving through the following weekend, and any extra donations will go into food baskets for resident
