ARLINGTON – The Lovejoy girls cross country team is looking to reclaim its spot atop Class 5A after finishing second at the state meet last season. But as far as regional competition is concerned, the Lady Leopards remain the gold standard.
Despite a change in scenery, the Lovejoy girls didn’t miss a beat in capturing their sixth consecutive Region II-5A championship on Monday from Harold Patterson Sports Complex – doing so with 31 points after placing four runners inside the 5K race’s top 10.
