OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) - Ogdensburg’s school district is putting a $5 million energy project up for a vote on Tuesday.
It would improve LED lighting district wide, including the floodlights on the football field.
To make the improvements, district officials say there’s no extra cost to the local taxpayer, and with voter approval the district would qualify for half a million dollars in state funding to get it done.
The district says is will save $3.5 million over 18 years on its light bill. The school’s carbon footprint would drop nearly in half as well.
The vote is Tuesday from noon until 9 p.m.
