LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has joined 20 other attorneys general in supporting the Stanford Daily, an independent student-run newspaper at Stanford University, in filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration, accusing it of targeting noncitizens with lawful status who express opposing political views.

In January 2025, President Donald Trump issued two executive orders (14161 and 14188), which outline the administration‘s “Ideological Deportation Policy," Nessel said in a news release.

These orders directed federal agencies "to protect its citizens from aliens who intend to commit terrorist attacks, threaten our national security, espouse hateful ideology," as well as to combat "anti-Semitic harassment in schools and on university and college campus
