JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A southern Indiana food pantry is reporting a startling increase in food insecurity.
The Center for Lay Ministries in Jeffersonville said since the start of this year, its served over 1,500 first-time clients, already surpassing the number of first-time clients served for all of 2024.
To help with the spike in mouths to feed, employees with Duke Energy in southern Indiana stepped in to help pack food boxes at the foot pantry on Monday.
Duke Energy's Government and Community Relations Manager Lisa Huber said the company's goal is to make things a little easier for those who are struggling with food insecurity.
