An industry group that pit-stopped in Sudbury last week is advocating swifter approval of projects to widen highways across the region.
“One of our key priorities is to grow investments in transportation infrastructure — both expansion and rehabilitation projects — and for Northern Ontario particularly as we talk about breaking down interprovincial barriers,” said Walid Abou-Hamde, CEO of the Ontario Road Builders’ Association . “In many parts of the province, we still don’t have a four-lane highway, so those physical barriers still very much exist.”

Abou-Hamde said Ontario lags behind nearly every other jurisdiction in the country in not yet having “a four-lane highway intersecting the entire province from border to border.”
