KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Wiltwyck Golf Club team of Joe Redmond and Mike Hein survived a three-hole playoff to capture the inaugural Green Acres Golf Course Ryder Cup at the Kingston public course on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Redmond and Hein, a former Ulster County executive, tied at 2-over-par through 18 holes in the Ryder Cup-style event with the Wiltwyck team comprised of Mike Beck and Mike Horodyski.

The playoff started at the par-3 seventh hole and tee shots by Hein and Horodyski both narrowly missed hole-in-ones. The winning team birdied the hole to go 1-up in the three-hole alternate-shot playoff. The seventh hole played very difficult in the windy conditions, with a scoring average of 5.4 on the par-3, which included a pair of 10s.
