The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that detectives have determined 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard, of Vandenberg Village, was last seen with her mother on Oct. 7, and that the pair may have traveled as far as Nebraska in a white Chevrolet Malibu rental car.
The update offers the most detailed timeline yet in the ongoing investigation into Melodee’s disappearance, which began earlier this month after concerns were raised by the Lompoc Unified School District.
“Detectives have gathered evidence indicating that Melodee was with her mother as recently as Oct. 7,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “Ashlee (Buzzard) may have driven with Melodee in a white Chevrolet Malibu (license 9MNG101) to locations outside of Santa Barbara County, to include as far as the state of Nebraska.”
