SALT LAKE CITY — A flight to Salt Lake City was forced to return to California over the weekend for a smelly reason.
Delta Air Lines Flight 2311 from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City was diverted Saturday because of the odor determined to be coming from a spoiled food item brought onboard by a passenger, a Delta spokesperson confirmed to KSL. Rather than dealing with the smell throughout the nearly two-hour flight, the plane ultimately returned to Los Angeles International Airport.
"As nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, our crew followed standard procedures to safely return to Los Angeles after an unpleasant odor was detected onboard. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels," the company said in a statement.
