Franklin independent Peter George received more in political donations than any other Tasmanian candidate at May's federal election, according to newly released Australian Electoral Commission returns.
The candidate and Senate group returns, which reveal details about the donations candidates received, show Mr George received $345,000 from 212 individual donors in the lead-up to the May 3 poll.
It also revealed that about two-thirds of the anti-salmon campaigner's war chest came from Climate 200 and two major teal-linked donors.
Candidates for each federal election are required to disclose the total amount they received, the number of individual donors, their total electoral expenditure, and the details of any donations that meet the $16,900 threshold.
