From flying a Snowbird in the virtual sky to changing a tire on the shop floor, participants got that experience Saturday during Day of the Girl SDG&A/Cornwall.

About 40 young women and girls, and family and friends visited École secondaire catholique La Citadelle on Saturday for the annual event .

“We were hoping for more than last year, which was just over 20 – 50, that’s the dream,” said a co-organizer, Karina Poirier of the Centre de santé mentale et services communautaires (Équipe psycho-sociale).

It was the second year in a row La Citadelle has hosted the Day of the Girl.

Two of the biggest draws were the virtual-reality experience provided by the Royal Canadian Air Force, and the technical demonstration by Riverside Stellantis apprentice Hayley Ferguson.
