A Los Angeles Police Department patrol vehicle appears to have hit a protester in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, resulting in the man's hospitalization.

According to photojournalist Francisco Lozano, who recorded the video, the police vehicle was near an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center at about 4:30 p.m. when it accelerated through a crowd of protesters.

The video, shared to social media by The Latino Newsletter, shows a man standing in front of the LAPD vehicle waving an upside-down American flag, which symbolizes distress.

That man starts to move to the side of the vehicle, but it accelerates, with the car's front right side hitting the man's left leg.

The video then shows what appears to be the same man writing in pain on the ground.
