A New Jersey man accused of driving drunk in a wrong-way collision that killed a newlywed couple could spend decades behind bars after he rejected a plea deal in early October that called for a 7-year prison sentence.

Levon Woods, 25, allegedly got behind the wheel after drinking at a nightclub and then crashed into an oncoming vehicle when he crossed over into the westbound lane on Mays Landing Road in Cumberland County on Feb. 22, NJ.com reported.

Thomas Splinter, 57, and his wife Nancy Orellana-Splinter, 29, were in the other vehicle and both died at the scene. 4

Woods remained at the scene until police arrived.

He allegedly admitted to investigators that he “sipped on a bottle” of cognac at a Philadelphia nightclub before the fatal wreck, but insisted he wasn’t too intoxicat
