A report of a person pointing a rifle at motorists on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in the unincorporated Vermont-Athens Monday resulted in stopped traffic and one person being taken into custody.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau were dispatched about 9:10 a.m. to the 105 overpass at Vermont Avenue, where a passerby reported to the California Highway Patrol that they had spotted a male wearing tan clothing pointing what appeared to be a long gun at motorists, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The California Highway Patrol closed all freeway lanes at the sheriff’s department’s request.
“Deputies detained someone matching the description,” according to the sheriff’s department.
