Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis Monday visited the unincorporated North Whittier area to celebrate newly installed signs welcoming people to the area and showcasing the community.

Solis provided $26,000 in funds from a special fund dedicated to roads in her district for the signs. In partnership with residents and the North Whittier Neighborhood Watch Avocado Heights Association, the county’s Department of Public Works created the signs.

“These signs reflect the pride and unity that define North Whittier and Avocado Heights,” Solis said in a statement. “This investment helps strengthen community identity and ensures residents feel seen and values. I am thankful to the residents and partners who made this possible.”
