SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Food aid programs face disruption as the federal government shutdown enters its 20th day, with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program warning recipients they may not receive benefits next month.

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is warning SNAP recipients they may not receive benefits in November due to the ongoing shutdown. More than 130,000 households per month receive SNAP benefits in Iowa, according to state officials.

The Food Bank of Siouxland is preparing for increased demand as both SNAP recipients face potential missed benefits, and an estimated 2,000 federal employees in Siouxland face financial strain from missed or partial paychecks.
