BURLINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor visited the University of Vermont on Monday, holding a conversation with the university's new president, Marlene Tromp.
Justice Sotomayor was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court in 2009 by then-President Barack Obama. She is generally considered to be part of the court's liberal wing.
Public registration for the event at the Ira Allen Chapel, according to the university, was filled a very short time after opening earlier this month.
State officials including Governor Phil Scott, Sen. Peter Welch, and Lieutenant Governor John Rodgers also attended the event.
