HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) --Unsafe sleep remains the number continues to be the leading cause of child deaths in South Carolina, according to a new report from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Experts say it's preventable problem that continues to claim young lives across the state -- including in Horry County.

At Tidelands Waccamaw Community Health, pediatrician Dr. Lucretia Carter said cute nursery decorations could be harmful.

"We see all the, the cute bedding. You know, it's really tempting to sort of get the cute fuzzy, you know, stuffed animals and bumpers that we see in the marketplace.
