DES MOINES, Iowa ( WOI ) - Almost 70 Iowa Workforce Development employees are furloughed as the government shutdown continues, WOI reports.

The furloughs impact approximately 67 workers from the Unemployment Insurance and Labor Market Information divisions, according to the agency.

Most will be reduced to working two days a week while others will be completely off work until the shutdown ends.

According to a statement, the Iowa Workforce Development said fall is typically a slow period for unemployment claims in Iowa, so it does not expect any delays in processing claims, issuing payments or answering questions with the staff still working.
