BUFFALO, N.Y. — The partly cloudy skies on Monday were perhaps not the most appropriate for the launch of a new solar energy project. But it is now in place at an industrial site on Elk Street in Buffalo.

There are over 6,600 solar panels now in place at the solar farm project off Elk Street at the site of the old Mobil Oil refinery and terminal - which actually closed up shop in 1981 with a State Department of Environmental Conservation approved cleanup of the obvious brownfield location.
