A Gloucester County EMT admitted Monday that he stole cash from a patient’s purse earlier this year, authorities said.
Antoni Simmons, 44, of Glassboro, pleaded guilty to a disorderly persons offense of theft by unlawful taking, according to a statement from the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred on April 30 when Simmons was dispatched to Newfield to provide aid to a patient, the prosecutor’s office said.
During his time at the scene, Simmons rummaged through the victim’s purse and stole about $220 in cash, investigators said. Later that day, the victim discovered the cash was missing from her purse.
Surveillance video showed the EMT going through the victim’s purse and taking the cash, authorities said.
