In its quest to placate the Trump administration and secure the future of AUKUS, the Albanese government is putting in place the financial and governance structure for Donald Trump to exercise control not merely of individual critical minerals projects in Australia, but also potentially the broader operation of our entire critical minerals sector.

The first project handed to Trump was announced this morning as part of the government’s US-Australia Framework for Securing of Supply in the Mining and Processing of Critical Minerals and Rare Earths .
