Eric Dane will be bringing his advocacy for ALS patients to the screen.

The 52-year-old actor will guest star opposite Zachary Quinto's Dr. Oliver Wolf in an upcoming episode of NBC's "Brilliant Minds," the network announced Oct. 20. Dane's character, Matthew, will be "a heroic firefighter who struggles to share his ALS diagnosis with his family."

His appearance on the hospital drama will come on Season 2, Episode 9, airing Nov. 24.

Quino's character is inspired by the late neurologist Dr. Oliver Sacks, who was known for publishing case studies of patients with neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy.

Similarly, Dr. Wolf explores "medical mysteries of the mind" alongside his Bronx General colleagues, played by Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Aury Krebs, Teddy Sears, Alex MacNicoll and Spence Moore II.

Dane, best known as "Grey's Anatomy's" McSteamy, is also returning for Season 3 of HBO's "Euphoria," due in spring 2026.

The actor publicly revealed he'd been diagnosed with the progressive neurological disorder in April and has since used his platform to advocate for increased funding for ALS research as well as systemic changes to prior authorizations so patients can obtain speedier medical care.

Due to his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, Dane has lost use of his right arm. He's previously said it would only be a matter of time before the progressive disease impacts his left arm as well.

"It wasn’t something I ever really wanted to do. It was something I felt like I had to do," he told The Washington Post in an interview published Oct. 2.

"It was getting increasingly difficult to hide what was going on. And instead of letting people speculate what was happening, I just said it. … And I've never experienced a bigger outpouring of love and support than I have after I announced that."

Dane added, "Not to be overly morbid, but you know, if I’m going out, I’m gonna go out helping somebody."
