JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - James Wells appeared for his first court appearance Monday morning in Jacksonville, where the district court judge increased his bond to $500,000 for allegedly murdering Marine Dylan Rasmussen during a case of road rage.
“Knowing Dylan was trying to enjoy his Sunday afternoon ride, I heard he just got his haircut and was going home,” said Ryne Snooks, owner of Ready to Ride.
Snooks says that Rasmussen was a relatively new motorcycle rider who often stopped by and recently visited the shop to purchase new tires.
Snooks says he was saddened to hear the news of the fellow rider.
District Attorney Ernie Lee says the tragedy could have been avoided.
“It’s not worth it. It is simply not worth it. Sometimes it is good to turn the other cheek and just move on,” Lee
