TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) - “This thing is quite narrow and at night. It’s very dangerous if you have to step off into the road.”

John Dickson, a Texarkana resident, said he walks along this section of County Avenue in Texarkana, Arkansas on a regular basis, even though the area does not have sidewalks.

“One foot in the road all the time, I can see somebody getting hit pretty quick. I hate to say that, but it is just too dangerous,” Dickson said.

“It would be wonderful to have the sidewalk. The road is entirely too busy,” Kelly Harrison, another Texarkana, Arkansas resident said.

Relief is on the way now that the city has been awarded two major grants from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department. City leaders said $455,000 will go to constructing sidewalks on County Avenu
