The Waverly-Shell Rock football team picked up a second straight home win of more than 30 points on Friday, October 17 against Waterloo East. The win sets up a final week game against Decorah to qualify outright for the postseason.

The Go-Hawks entered the matchup after picking up a statement win a week prior against Cedar Rapids Washington. Despite both W-SR and Washington entering the game with 2-4 records, the Go-Hawks showed that they were the far superior team by winning 45-14.

The win was the first of three wins the Go-Hawks needed in order to finish as the district runner-up and automatically qualify for the postseason. Their second opponent on that list would be the winless Waterloo East Trojans, who the Go-Hawks once again sprinted ahead of in route to a huge victory.
