NEW ORLEANS — Old Dominion men’s basketball is entering the 2025-26 season with high expectations thanks to major preseason honors for two key guards.

Junior standout Robert Davis Jr. has been named the Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year and earned a spot on the Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team, while transfer Jordan Battle was selected to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Third Team, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

A Detroit native, Davis Jr. led the nation last season with 348 three-point attempts, ranked fifth nationally with 3.41 made threes per game, and finished eighth with 116 total three-pointers—a new ODU single-season record. He was also the Sun Belt’s ironman, averaging 35:37 minutes per game, and returns as the Monarchs’ top scorer after averaging 15.6 points p
