The county board is considering a new service model for EMS, which is deemed no longer fiscally sustainable.
Concerns have been raised about potential layoffs and the impact on emergency response times.
RICHLAND COUNTY, Wis. — The Richland County Board on Monday decided that participating municipalities must sign an interim agreement extending to 2027 and beyond if they wish to keep their ambulance services within the county. The temporary agreement was previously set to be three months, ending on April 1, 2026.
According to Richland County Executive Tricia Clements , the board took action to end the current service model for EMS, which had been in place since 2014, because it was no longer "fiscally sustainable," although it was allegedly intended to last only one year.
