QUINCY (WGEM) - October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and information technology professionals want to help keep you safe online.

Tigerhawk Technologies IT Support Person Natalie Thompson said it is important for people to pay attention to what they are clicking on, especially when it comes to links in emails or on social media. She said one click could easily allow hackers to access personal information.

“When it comes to email and stuff like that, you would want to look at the domain, and if anything looks suspicious, I would always flag it,” Thompson said. “It’s better to be safe than sorry.”

When it comes to social media, Thompson said not to click on any links unless you know and trust the account.
