The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a scare on Sunday at Ford Field. Late in the first half against the Detroit Lions, star wideout Mike Evans went down. And the crowd, watching one of their biggest offensive weapons stay down, went silent.
In the second quarter, Evans went down hard after trying to haul in a deep ball from Baker Mayfield. For a moment, he didn’t move at all. Trainers rushed out immediately as his teammates took a knee. You could feel the tension across the field.
Moments later, the news came in. Evans was carted off and ruled out with a concussion and shoulder injury. As sports medicine physician Jesse Morse explained, “Classic mechanism for an AC sprain, although his clavicle could have been fractured, that’s less likely since he wasn’t favoring it at all.”
