Kenny Loggins has criticised U.S. President Donald Trump for using his song Danger Zone in a bizarre AI video posted on social media.
On the weekend, the American leader uploaded a 19-second clip to his Truth Social platform which depicted him in sitting in a fighter jet and bombing No Kings protesters with what appears to be gallons of sewage.
In a statement issued to Variety on Monday, Loggins blasted Trump for using his 1986 track Danger Zone - one of the hit singles from the blockbuster movie Top Gun - as the soundtrack.
"This is an unauthorised use of my performance of Danger Zone," he declared. "Nobody asked me for my permission, which I would have denied, and I request that my recording on this video is removed immediately."
A representative for the White House declined to comment on the video.
Elsewhere, Loggins expressed his disappointment that his music was being associated with a topic which has sparked division.
"Too many people are trying to tear us apart, and we need to find new ways to come together," the 77-year-old continued. "We're all Americans, and we're all patriotic. There is no 'us and them' - that's not who we are, nor is it what we should be. It's all of us. We're in this together, and it is my hope that we can embrace music as a way of celebrating and uniting each and every one of us."
The No Kings protests are a series of demonstrations held mostly in the U.S. in response to some of the controversial policies enacted by Trump and his administration.
The most recent events took place in major cities, including Washington D.C. and New York City, on 18 October.
